Exercise Can Prevent Your Clients From Losing Weight

When it comes to losing weight, it typically takes months of motivation and dedication. Many people try multiple routes until they find the one that’s right for them. Some people never see the results they want and give up. We explore how exercise can prevent your clients from losing weight, and the changes they can make to see results.

According to a study conducted by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, exercise and diet are less effective when only one is implemented into one’s routine. The study examined a group of postmenopausal women, whom the researchers felt were largely under-represented in this type of research. They split the participants into groups. One group only did exercise, a second group focused on their diet, and the third group combined both exercise and a healthy diet into their routine.

Overall, the study showed that diet and exercise induced greater weight loss, with women losing an average of 19.8 pounds. Those who only took part in exercise saw the lowest results, losing an average of only 4.4 pounds. The diet only group lost an average of 15.8 pounds.

This shows that exercise on its own may not be an efficient way of losing weight. The difference between the result of the diet-only group and the diet and exercise group implies that changing your diet is actually more beneficial for dropping the pounds than adding exercise to your routine.

Losing Weight

This information is beneficial if you are offering fat loss treatments such as Cryolipolysis, which can be conducted using our HD Multi-Tech and Dual 360 machines. If diet and exercise are not working for your client, then these weight loss treatments may be the way forward. As well as this, by maintaining a healthy diet after the treatments, your client will see better weight loss results. Furthermore, when combining this with exercise, your client will see that the results last longer. The fact this study covers postmenopausal women is also valuable, as this group are likely to constitute a considerable proportion of your client base.

There are few explanations as to why exercise on its own can prevent your clients from losing weight. One is that exercise mostly focuses on fat loss rather than weight loss. As a result of this, your clients may not be losing weight as they are replacing it with muscle, especially if they undergo strength training. This is not necessarily a bad thing. On the contrary, when people lose more weight due to diet, this includes muscle loss as well as fat loss. Another reason that exercise may result in minimal weight loss is that people may eat more. Exercise may increase hormones that make people feel hungry, leading to increased calorie consumption.

Therefore, your clients need to combine exercise and a healthy diet to see effective and healthy weight loss. Although exercise alone has health benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease, it seems unlikely to deliver the fast and significant weight loss results your clients may wish to see. Treatments such as Cryolipolysis can help aid your client’s weight loss journey. However, weight loss is not just about shedding the pounds; rather it is about keeping them off. As a result of this, it is important to reiterate to your clients that a healthy and active lifestyle is the key to maintaining the body they want. Cryolipolysis will produce results, but your client can improve the effects all on their own.
