Fat freezing was discovered at Harvard University by Manstein (MD, PhD), and Anderson (MD), when they serendipitously found that the adipose cells within the human body can be frozen, allowing dead cells to leave the body through the lymphatic system, reducing fat. Presently, Cryolipolysis has become one of the most popular methods of fat reduction as it benefits from being non-surgical, non-invasive and allows individuals to resume everyday activities immediately after treatment. Studies have shown fat freezing can reduce fat cells by 22% in a single treatment. Therefore, the number of sessions required is contingent upon one’s aims. Prior to the treatment, an Anti-Freeze Membrane is placed on the target area. This stops the skin from coming into direct contact with the applicator, preventing any burns.

"The procedure significantly reduced the circumference in the treated areas, significantly diminishing fat thickness. The mean reduction in fat thickness after treatment was 3.02 cm. Circumference was reduced by a mean of 4.45cm. Weight was unchanged during the treatment, and no adverse effects were observed.
